Abstract
We reported the case of a patient who came to our attention because of draining sinus formation and chron- ic pyogenic infection for l year in a right knee that had had a total knee arthrodlastv(TKA). Cemented revi-sion arthroplasty using
allograft
technique for tibial and femoral defects and delayed implantation after debredement was evaluated for the treatment of chronic infected total knee arthroplasty. The patient was treated by implant removal and debridement with antibiotic-impregnated
cement
beads and followed by intravenous antibiotics. Cultures of synovial tissues taken before and at surgery of debridement grew Klebsiella pneumoniae. A pain free, nondraining wound was achieved following the two stage procedure. antidictic
impregnated
cemented reconstruction using antibiotic soaked allograft bone and rigidly fixed femoral and tibial compcnents were successful with a follow -up of 3 years. The patient achieved stable fixa-tions of the implants and good function of the dnee but
complained of flexion contracture 10*, extension lag 10* and full flexion 135* without pain in the knee. In the intermediate term, this method might be successful procedure in restoring function, reconstructing bone stock, and eradicating
infection.
